Before pursuing his long time passion in photography, Dr. Laurent Dambies, who holds both PhD and MBA degrees from his native France, spent over a decade doing research and development for a number of organizations around the world. Laurent began to realize his passion in photography when he picked up his first film camera back in 1991. Although successful in his career as a research scientist, he decided to focus his attention to what he loves doing the most: photography and travel.
Now based in Cambodia and living in Siem Reap for more than three years, Laurent has witnessed almost a hundred sunrises over Angkor Wat. With hundreds of photography hours tutoring under his belt, he is extremely knowledgeable of the best shooting locations in the temples of Angkor and the surrounding countryside. Laurent is your personal guide and with him you will be sure to enhance your photography skills, whether you are a beginner or an advanced photographer. Beyond Angkor, Laurent has explored and captured the beautiful temples of Ayutthaya and Sukhothai in Thailand, as well as the picturesque temples of Bagan in Myanmar.
Laurent's photo and video work is distributed by several international stock agencies such as Shutterstock, Pond5, Alamy and Age Fotostock. With a scientific approach to photography, he likes experimenting with new techniques such as Light Painting, High Dynamic Range, Time-Lapse and Hyperlapse. Laurent also started videography in 2009 with time-lapse and now does some production of small video clips for local businesses. An early adopter in technology, Laurent continues to learn, evolve and mature as an artist along with new imaging equipment and editing software. From 2016 Laurent is co-leading since 2016 a 14-day photography expedition in the majestic Himalayas in the Indian state of Ladakh.
